CJN SWEARS IN 9 NEW FHC JUDGES
THE Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Justice Walter Onnoghen on Monday warned the newly sworn-in Judges of. the Federal High Court against engaging in any act, that is capable of damaging the image of the judiciary.
Justice Onnoghen gave the warning at the Supreme Court yesterday during the swearing-in ceremony of nine Judges, whose appointments were confirmed by President Muhammadu Buhari, on the recommendation of the National Judicial Council (NJC). He told the Judges to allow integrity to be their watchword and to be bold and courageous in the discharge of their duties.
The CJN charged the Judges to adhere to the oath of office, the constitution and the code of conduct for judicial officers in carrying out their duties, saying that, By so doing, you will be grounded and protected by the judiciary.” Justice Onnoghen also told them not to allow themselves to be used as scape-goat by politicians or anybody and stressed the need for them to be in charge of their courts.
